The world standard for Food Safety was developed in order to specify the safety, quality and operational criteria required within a food-producing organisation if it is to satisfy the statutory obligations and those relating to consumer protection. The structure and the content of the Standard were designed in such a way that it is possible for a qualified third party – the certifying agency – to assess a company’s buildings and sites, operational systems and procedures against the criteria of the Standard.
